“Renaissance house” at Colmar, France. This project was submitted for my third semester at Think Tank Training Center.
This project has been an incredible journey in my skill development despite the complexities of the concept, using new softwares and time management.
The chosen concept enhanced my skills from block out to modeling and texturing. I found modeling relatively straightforward compared to texturing, which requires attention to details and careful reference research. I relied mainly on substance designers for texturing. Such as various tileable textures to cover the large structure of the building, some foliage and some secondary props.
Time management was essential as a full-time job student. I dedicated 4-5 hours a day and 12 hours on weekends. There was always that tension of deadlines, that’s why every step was thoughtful and calculated. That to some extend limited my experiment with different techniques, However my instructor and fellow students motivated me to explore new methods.
Finally, there is still room for improvement to bring my project into the next level. Some textures do not fully reflect the real essence of a physical material. For the next project, I aim to deepen my understanding of physical and visual structure of materials. In addition,I would like to explore trim sheets using zbrush and substance painter workflow.
